About

Hi, I’m Martin. DIGITIZ3R is an audience-focused personal brand and digital journal dedicated to exploring the enduring legacy of Japan’s Heisei era (1989–2019).

It would not be hyperbole to say that the Heisei years were a source of vibrant cultural explosion. From the rise of JDM and the golden age of anime to the tactile soul of vintage electronics and the distinct "vibe" of Japanese street photography, the aesthetics of this era have shaped modern creativity, pop culture, and everyday life across the globe- and continue to do so to this day.

The Mission: Culture, Creativity, and Connection

The Heisei era is perhaps the single largest influence on my creative life. DIGITIZ3R follows my journey as I document these influences and examine how they continue to shape my work, as well as the rest of the creative landscape.

Ultimately, this is a space for cultural preservation and celebration— by highlighting my work and the work of others— to bridge the gaps between what came before, how it moves us today, and the things that have yet to come.

What We Explore Here

DIGITIZ3R is where my personal interests meet a broader cultural conversation. You’ll find content centered around:

  • Heisei Aesthetics & Otaku Culture: Analyzing the visual language of the 90s and 2000s that redefined global media.

  • Photography & Gear: Capturing the world through a lens that honors both film-era soul and modern digital precision.

  • JDM & Tech: Exploring the machines and electronics that defined an era of Japanese innovation.

  • Travel & Experiences: Dispatches from Japan and beyond, focusing on the locations and subcultures that keep the Heisei spirit alive.

Join the Journey

DIGITIZ3R is more than just a blog; it’s a living archive for fellow explorers, creators, and enthusiasts. Whether you are here for the technical breakdowns or the cultural deep dives, thank you for being part of this exploration into the aesthetics that define our world.
